This is as much for Vakarrus bb as it is for alls y’all.

I am still doing the challenge! I just need to sort out my commissions so I can reopen them (and that benefits EVERYONE, AMIRITE?) and I’ll do my best to keep going.

I’m still on Day 3: Favourite Character. I am so damn torn, I might just do a bunch of sketches of my favourites.

And on a personal note, I adore these 30 day challenges. I’ve only fully completed one consecutive challenge — the Dragon Age one — and let me tell you, it was so fulfilling and rewarding to finish. My art improved so drastically by the end of the 30 days, it was hard to believe it was the same artist (me! lol).

after the anime challenge, I’ll be continuing the disney challenge, and after that, I’ll try my hand at some realism via the LotR challenge. SO MUCH ARTS, I LOVE IT. 

30 Day Anime Challenge
Day 02: Favourite Anime So Far

WELP I sucked today. Completely lost track of time. Plus, I hate drawing when people are around. So, this is late. Dunno if I can do one tomorrow, since one of my roommates is having people over for Super Bowl Sunday [for those of you who don’t know what it is, think ‘World Cup’ except just for America, and with hand egg American football] and I might be a ball of anxiety depending on how boisterous they all are.

ANYWAYYYYY, my favourite anime thus far… it’s hard, picking just one. I love different genres, and always have a favourite within each; but to pick just one is always a frustrating task.  In the end, though, I have to go with Rurouni Kenshin.  A lot of my art style is influenced by Watsuki-sensei, and no other anime has affected my interests quite to the level that RuroKen has.

RuroKen got me interested in being a mangaka, learning about Japanese history, learning Japanese, costuming, swords, martial arts… it even got me into other anime. I’ve bonded with so many people over the years through Kenshin, and though I only talk to a few of them now, I’ll never forget them.

Featured here, Kenshin and Kaoru.  Pairings come and go, but for me, these two are just so right that I can’t ship either of them with anyone else.

30 Day Anime Challenge
Day 01: Your First Anime

I had to think about this. At first, I thought it was InuYasha, or Pokémon, or Digimon. Then I thought it was Voltron. I wasn’t sure, my childhood memories are pretty fuzzy when it comes to timelines unless I really sit down and think.

After much reflection, I finally figured out that my first anime - like so many others - was Sailor Moon.  It, at least, is the first anime in my memory. I first started watching it in the early AM, living with my grandparents when I was five years old. I didn’t watch Voltron til I was about nine, Pokémon and Digimon weren’t til about ten/eleven, and InuYasha wasn’t until high school.

I remember thinking that Sailor Moon was kind of weird, because the mouths never moved. I also remember going around my back yard pretending to transform, wheeling around on my trike for no apparent reason, waving about sticks. I was a weird little kid.

So to represent this first series: Usagi! My favourite was always Rei (Sailor Mars), but I figured that Usagi would be more recognisable.

SO! Another art 30 day challenge. Vakarrus bby and I are going to do this one together, so make sure to check out both of our challenges! We’re going to try and do this consecutively, but unlike my DA challenge it won’t be a huge deal if something comes up.

Some thoughts on this… I’m not sure just how well I’ll be able to complete this, my manga/anime knowledge is less hefty than I’d like it to be. Mostly going to be my art, with the exception of:

Day 14 - Current/Most recent anime wallpaper
Day 16 - Kigurumi Cosplay of favourite anime character

Unless I can figure out a way to do art for those. xD
